Welcome to SeaCo Fishing Charters

Jul 15, 2022 | General

SeaCo specializes in near shore and offshore fishing charters in the Atlantic waters based out of St. Augustine, Florida. Some folks call it deep sea fishing. We just call it a good time.

Your trip will begin at the Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor where you will board our 31′ Contender center console fishing vessel the “Rock Bottom”. She’s equipped with Furuno Radar and sonar equipment to monitor the sea floor, fish and bottom locations. Also aboard is a VHF radio that we use to keep in touch with other Captains and fishing vessels for the most up-to-date reporting of bait locations and target species sightings. We have plenty of life jackets, cooler space, cover your fishing licenses and provide all gear for target fishing for the day. Powered by twin Honda 250’s, Rock Bottom will get us where we need to go and back to the marina quickly and safely.

What To Bring

While we provide coolers, ice, life jackets, fishing licenses, all fishing gear needed for your trip (as per a discussion with the Captain the day prior to your trip) to target the species that are in season based on the trip length you choose, there are still a few things you might want to bring with you. Below is a short list of suggestions.

  • sunblock – it is recommended that you apply sunblock at least 30 minutes prior to boarding the boat so that it has time to soak it. You may want to reapply during the charter. We ask that you try NOT to bring the spray-on kind as it will leave a residue on the boat.
  • long sleeve sun shirt and hat – Florida is called the Sunshine State for a reason! The sun can be brutal. Sun protective clothing will go a long way to limiting your sun exposure and help prevent sunburn
  • sunglasses – we highly recommend a pair of sunglasses. While not necessary, even a cheap pair of glasses will aid in protecting your eyes from the strain caused by the glare and reflection off the water. Polarized are even better as the reduction in water glare will allow you to see more of the sea life that is just below the surface of the water.
  • jacket – depending on the season, departure time, etc. you may want to bring a lightweight, waterproof and/or wind resistant jacket. Mornings can be chilly during certain times of year; afternoon rainstorms are common, especially during spring and summer
  • drinks, food & snacks (we supply the cooler and ice to keep it cold)
  • motion sickness medication

What about Sea Sickness?

This is a common concern with guests but there are things that can be done to help mitigate the potential for sea sickness.

  • Limit alcohol consumption the night before.  Dehydration and/or a hangover can exaggerate the effects of motion sickness
  • Eat light on the meal or two prior to your trip. Try to avoid heavy, greasy foods if possible. You may even want to skip breakfast the morning of the trip, but bring some light food with you to have once you see how you feel.
  • Limit sugary and/or carbonated drinks the morning of the trip until you see how you feel once we are underway.

The Captain will contact you the day prior to your trip to discuss fishing reports, sea and wind conditions, to find out what your goals are for a successful trip and answer any last questions you might have, ensuring you have the best possible charter fishing trip. We hope to see you soon!
